Shine On!

So today we're driving home from dance and the sun comes out.  It's really bright, and Emma screamed when this song came on the iPod.

Shine on, shine on, shine on me
Whenever something's missing
You're exactly what I need
Your love has shown me the light and now I finally see
So shine on, shine on, shine on me, yeah
Well there are times I still get lost in yesterday
But you put the past behind me and you light my way.

Ok, so she likes Rascal Flatts, right?  So what, you say?  Well, after the song, she says, "Mom, I love that song.  It reminds me of Grandma.  I bet she's making the sun shine so it's not cloudy."

After I choked down a few tears, I agreed with her and kept driving.

Then after a few moments, she says, "I know why you like to go see Grandpa and keep Grandma's things nice and safe......because you love her smile still, and she made the best cookies in the world."

Yep, Emma, you're exactly right.

Shine brightly today, friends!  Let your smile be your autograph!
XOXO!

Birthday Weekend!

Oliver

Awww, I love him!!!!

He's going to be spoiled rotten!

Eric loves him too!
My kiddos :)

Oliver met his cousin, Baxter

We got a puppy!  His name is Oliver and he's a 14-week-old Miniature Goldendoodle.  He's a Golden Retriever/Miniature Poodle mix, so he won't shed and he won't get to be as big as a Golden.  He's very laid back.  I have heard "he looks like a stuffed animal" more times than I can count :)  You can definitely tell he's a puppy, because he would chew on anything if I let him.  He's doing OK in the potty-training department, but isn't making a mess in his kennel or his room (our laundry room) so I'm OK with that.

We had Emma's 5th birthday party this weekend.  She had invited a few friends over Friday night for her 'girl party' but Kaiser got sick with Influenza B, so we all had to be put on Tamiflu and we had to reschedule her party. She ran into luck when we found out one of her besties was already on Tamiflu, so instead of her party on Friday, she got to have a SLEEPOVER!  Tell me about it.... how did THAT happen!?!??!  Well, Sunday eventually came and we had her friends over from 12:30 - 2:30. then we shipped them out and family came at 3:00.  Wow, were we tired!  Emma had a blast.  She got Hawkeye stuff (she wants to be a cheerleader for Halloween) and lots of drawing / craft supplies.  She is in seventh heaven.  We feel so blessed to have so many family members so close that can come and celebrate these special times with us.  Thanks for making Emma's day so special!

Kaiser got his 1 year pictures taken last weekend when we went to get the puppy.... finally (only two months late)!  Courtesy of Keri Touro @ www.PicturesandMorePhotography.com :)  Enjoy!

And some from Emma's party... :)
